Penn State fruit field day to be held July 9

The Penn State Fruit Research and Extension Center Field Day will be held July 9. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m., and the program will start at 1 p.m. and conclude with a chicken barbecue dinner.

Program highlights include alternative bacterial disease management, simplified pruning for high density orchards, advances in BMSB integrated management, pollinator protection, biological control of orchard pests, antibiotic resistance management, blossom thinning on apples, new apple cultivars and rootstocks, and high density peach plantings. Special guests are Richard Roush, dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences, and Russell Redding, Pennsylvania’s secretary of agriculture.
