Adams County Nursery hires Jerry Frecon

Jerry Frecon has accepted a part-time consulting position with Adams County Nursery (ACN), Aspers, Pa. Frecon has served the New Jersey fruit industry for the past 31 years as an agricultural agent and county department head for Rutgers Cooperative Extension. His 46-year career as a pomologist focused on tree fruits, small fruits and nuts. He is recognized by many in the East as the foremost authority on peach and nectarine cultivars, having evaluated more than 1,000 varieties during his tenure in New Jersey.

“Jerry brings a tremendous amount of talent and knowledge to his new role with Adams County Nursery,” said Phil Baugher, ACN’s president. “His contributions to the fruit industry are well recognized, and we look forward to working with Jerry.”

Frecon will be working in product development, in the capacity of a consultant to the nursery. He will also serve as an adviser to commercial growers in the Northeast. He will continue his work with variety evaluations both in New Jersey and in cooperation with the nursery’s trial plantings in Pennsylvania, according to ACN.
