Cider association elects new members

The United States Association of Cider Makers (USACM) elected new directors and executive leadership at its annual membership conference, CiderCon 2017.

The incoming board of directors elected the 2017 executive committee, including Bruce Nissen of Jester & Judge Cider Company as president, Trevor Baker of Noble Cider Company as vice president, Paul Vander Heide of Vander Mill as secretary, and Eleanor Leger of Eden Specialty Ciders as treasurer. These board officers will have enhanced leadership roles for the association in 2017, including a close working relationship with the association’s Executive Director Michelle McGrath.

The association’s membership also voted on four new board members during the annual business meeting held at CiderCon. USACM welcomes Marcus Robert of Tieton Cider Works as the Northwest regional board chair, Dan Young of Tandem Cider as the Midwest chair, Eric Foster of Stem Cider as the Mountain/West chair, and Brian Shanks of Bold Rock Cider to one of three large-producer seats, reserved for cideries making over 500,000 gallons of cider a year.

Board members are elected to two-year terms. Seven board members return to the 2017 board to carry out the remainder of their terms either as regional chairs, large producers or at-large members. Three board members retired their service to USACM this year: Mike Beck of Uncle John’s Cider, David Cordtz of Sonoma Cider and Justin Kissinger of Heineken.
