GK Machine blueberry harvester receives AE50 award

GK Machine’s Berry Transport was just recognized with an AE50 award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). AE50 awards honor the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries.

The Berry Transport provides a comfortable work pace for field labor. It is self-propelled by remote control with push-button speed and an emergency stop functions. This machine aids in the harvest of berries by reducing labor and increasing harvest efficiency while also reducing injuries. Gas or solar powered units are available.

In field productivity has been reported by some growers to have increased by 25 to 40 percent during the first year of operation with the Berry Transport. The Berry Transport is lightweight for less ground compaction and will accommodate both large and small field crews. The machine is highly accessible and provides quick and easy off-loading from either side.

Since 1976 GK Machine’s goal has been to create exceptional value for its customers by focusing on the design and manufacturing of quality equipment. GK Machine designs, engineers and fabricates parts, engines and equipment and machinery for agriculture, transportation, construction and industrial manufacturers.

ASABE is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to the advancement of engineering applicable to agricultural, food, and biological systems. For more details visit www.asabe.org/AE50.
