Guthion Education Initiative

MANA Crop Protection has announced a new Guthion insecticide grower education initiative to U.S. apple producers, according to the U.S. Apple Association (USApple).

MANA is the only manufacturer of Guthion (azinphos-methyl) and the only source of Guthion for apple growers in the country. MANA and USApple have worked together to maintain Guthion product availability for apple producers during the current phase-out period, which will end in 2012, according to USApple.

MANA will be communicating directly to apple growers highlighting current stewardship practices, educational outreach programs for farm laborers, improved packaging options and enhanced buffer zones to insure continued optimum product usage. The Guthion communications effort will also highlight the impact of continuing failure rates and the higher costs of replacement products, according to USApple.
