Hearings set for PA 232 Michigan blueberry research program

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) will conduct two public hearings regarding the establishment of a Michigan Blueberry Research & Education Program.

Petitions from Michigan blueberry producers were submitted to MDARD requesting establishment of a Michigan Blueberry Research & Education Program and pursuant to the Agriculture Commodities Marketing Act (1965 PA 232), two public hearings have been set to receive comments on the proposed program.

The first hearing will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 beginning at 2 p.m. at Careerline Tech Center, located at 13663 Port Sheldon St, Holland, MI 49424.

The second hearing will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 beginning at 7 p.m. at the South Haven Charter Township Hall, 09761 Blue Star Memorial Highway, South Haven, MI 49090.

Interested individuals who cannot attend one of the hearings may submit written testimony until 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, 2016.
