Michigan farmers on front line of Gov. Snyder’s war on obesity, poor health

Gov. Rick Snyder announced today that he is calling on Michigan farmers to help create a healthier, slimmer populace.

Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development Director Keith Creagh said his agency has already begun work in that direction, with enthusiastic support from grocery retailers and food processors.

“It all starts with food," Creagh said in a telephone interview today after Snyder’s announcement.

Michigan’s diversity of agriculture products is second only to California’s, he said. Kalamazoo Gazette
