Penn State Extension has videos for apple growers

The Penn State Extension Horticulture, Start Farming, and Pesticide Education Teams have produced three new videos on integrated pest management practices for sustainable establishment and management of apple orchards.

If you are making plans to establish a new orchard, check out Orchard Bio-renovations and Soil Health: Soil Physical Properties for the latest science-based information on rotation crops to reduce nematodes and increase soil structure prior to planting.

For step-by-step training on scouting an existing orchard for biological control of mites and optimum disease control timing, view IPM in Apple Orchards in English or Manejo Integrado de Plagas (MIP) en Huertos de Manzana en Español.

The videos were produced as part of a PDA Specialty Crop Block Grant project titled Sustainable Production and Marketing Innovations for Next Generation Young and Hispanic Specialty Crop Growers, award number ME44144963

To learn more about Penn State Extension Tree Fruit Team priorities identified by industry stakeholders, see the new video titled “Putting Knowledge to Work in Commonwealth Orchards.”
