Tree Fruit 101: Webinars for beginning growers

Penn State Extension is offering three Saturday morning webinar trainings that will each be two hours long. The three sessions are designed for the beginning tree fruit grower who plans to grow tree fruit for sale. Commercial growers with limited experience will also find these trainings helpful. You will learn how to consistently grow quality fruit and avoid many of the problems that discourage new tree fruit growers.

March 5 – Cultivars, Rootstocks, Training and Support Systems: Our first speaker is Rob Crassweller, an Extension tree fruit specialist in the area of horticulture. He also teaches a tree fruit production course at Penn State’s main campus.

March 12 – Insect Pest Management: Speaker is Greg Krawczyk, an Extension entomologist specializing in tree fruit pests. He conducts research at the Fruit Research and Extension Center in Biglerville, Pennsylvania.

March 19 – Disease Prevention and Management: Speaker is Kari Peter, a plant pathology specialist working with tree fruit. She conducts research at the Fruit Research and Extension Center in Biglerville.
