U.S. Fresh Market Apple Holdings Down from 2009

U.S. fresh-market apple holdings of 81.5 million bushels on Jan. 1 reflect a 10 percent decrease compared to January 2009 holdings of 90.3 million bushels and were 3 percent more than the five-year average of 79.3 million bushels, according to the U.S. Apple Association. Total processing apple holdings as of Jan. 1, 2010, were 34.6 million bushels, 3 percent lower than last year and 12 percent below the five-year average for that date.
