WAVE seminar focuses on wine research

Registration is open for WAVE – Washington Advancements in Viticulture and Enology – a research-focused seminar on July 14 in Richland, Washington.

The inaugural event, sponsored by the Washington State Wine Commission, will be held in the Washington State University Ste. Michelle Wine Estates Wine Science Center.

Viticulture research topics presented will include advances in Integrated Pest Management, managing viruses in Washington vineyards, powdery mildew accomplishments, and irrigation.

Enology research topics are wine spoilage and Brettanomyces, tannin management, and the power of native yeasts. Pesticide certification credits have been requested from the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

WAVE will start at 8 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. with a wine social hour and tour of the Wine Science Center.

Pre-registration and payment of $15 is required. Because seating is limited, registration will be on a first-come basis. For a fullĀ agenda and registration details visit the WAVE 2016 event website.
