Will winter moisture improve drought conditions?

Just because the crops have all been harvested here in Michigan and across the United States, the drought that affected the country this year isn’t over.

Much of the middle part of the United States is still suffering through some degree of drought.

Fortunately, here in Michigan we have the lowest level of drought conditions and are just on the edge of the country’s massive drought area.

The area west of Saginaw and south towards Lansing and Jackson is the only spot in Michigan ranked as a drought at the current time.

You shouldn’t think the drought is over, however. If you look at the larger image of the U.S. drought, you will see most of the Midwest and Plains are some shade of brown. That color is not good when looking at a drought map. MLive
