Growers Get a Look at Prototype Apple Sorter — FGNtv

Renfu Lu, researcher for USDA’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at Michigan State University, demonstrated Sept. 12 in Sparta, Mich., an in-orchard harvesting aid/sorting machine prototype that could prove to be significantly lower in cost than other systems and sort apples into two or three quality grades. The machine sorts the apples so that growers do not need to send inferior fruit to the packinghouse.
