California hail storm wreaks havoc on tree fruit
A hail storm that dropped half-inch hail pellets on the San Joaquin Valley region of California could result in financial losses in the millions for tree fruit growers there, The Fresno Bee is reporting. Growers describe hail that shredded leaves, knocked fruit off trees, damaged developing fruit, and in some areas, accumulated several inches deep on the ground. Damage was also reported by some lettuce and tomato growers.
