Dec. 1 fresh apple inventories at 103.3 million bushels

The U.S. Apple Association’s December 2018 edition of Market News has been released. 

This is the second report on the 2018 apple cropAccording to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on Dec. 1, 2018, totaled 103.3 million bushels, 16 percent less than the inventories reported for Dec, 1 of last year.

Processing holdings totaled  36.1 million bushels, 21 percent less  than last year on Dec. 1.  The total number of apples in storage on Dec. 1, 2018, was 139.5 million bushels, 17 percent less than last December’s total of 168.8million bushels and 13 percent below the five-year average for that date.
