Majestene named best new biopesticide in Agrow Awards

Marrone Bio Innovations‘ Majestene Bionematicide product has won the Biopesticide category in the 2016 Agrow Awards held in London.

The prestigious Agrow Awards, presented by Agrow, an information provider for the global crop protection industry, features 14 categories in areas such as R&D, formulation, innovation, collaboration, marketing, business strategy and corporate responsibility. Winners are judged by an independent panel of industry experts. To be eligible for the awards, products were required to be formulated in a way that is acceptable to users and distributors, while also providing the ability to forge a path in a market dominated by synthetic chemicals.

Majestene, which was launched earlier in 2016, is labeled for a variety of crops against multiple nematodes such as root knot, cyst, sting, burrowing and lance and is approved for use in conventional and organic systems. It is available in a liquid formulation and can be applied by ground, with no limit on the number of applications allowed per season, according to MBI. Majestene has the minimum four-hour re-entry interval for farmworkers, according to the company. The product is non-toxic to fish, birds and most beneficial insects, and also has the advantages of a zero-day pre-harvest interval (PHI) and an exemption from MRL (maximum residue level) tolerances, according to MBI.
