Michigan Apple Queen to throw first pitch at Detroit Tigers game

On Sept. 27, Michigan Apple Queen Sara Reisinger will throw the first pitch at Comerica Park. The game is set to begin at 7:10 p.m. and the Tigers will be playing against the Cleveland Indians.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to represent the Michigan Apple industry in front of more than 40,000 people,” said Reisinger. “Tigers baseball and Michigan Apples are both staples in the lives of Michiganders.”

A Michigan Apple Queen has been crowned every year since 1952, but Reisinger will be the first to throw a pitch at a Tigers game.

“Cleveland fans and I might not be cheering for the same team, but I know we can see eye-to-eye on which apples taste the best,” said Reisinger. “Luckily, Michigan Apples are sold all throughout the state of Ohio!”

This will not be Reisinger’s first time on the mound, as she threw out the first pitch earlier this month at a Great Lakes Loons game in Midland, Michigan.

Reisinger is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University and is the daughter and niece of Freeland, Michigan apple growers. The Michigan Apple Queen and court, Hannah Rasch, can be seen all over Michigan this fall, representing the Michigan Apple industry in various parades and festivals.
