Ohio’s Central State University to host research facility open house

Central State University Land-Grant Program is scheduling an open house to raise awareness of land-grant programs and celebrate the building of a new research facility.

The open house and research facility groundbreaking is scheduled for April 28 at the western Ohio historically black university (HBCU) .

The free event will take place at the Research Farm Facility in Wilberforce, Ohio, across from the main campus.

The day will consist of tours of the research farm and lab, poster presentations, interactive and static displays, demonstrations, food demos as well as a mini land grant job fair. Additionally, a groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to celebrate the building of a new facility built with facilities funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

“Explore the beautiful research farm field and botanical garden while learning about our innovative research projects,” Central State officials said in a news release. “Discover Extension’s work throughout Ohio with interactive displays. Witness the groundbreaking ceremony as we embark on a new chapter in our land-grant mission.”

The event is open to everyone, who can expect a fun-filled day of learning and discovery, according to the release. “Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to see the future of agricultural research in action.”

Located east of Dayton, Ohio, Central State is a regionally accredited 1890 Land Grant University with a 136-year tradition of preparing students from diverse backgrounds and experiences for leadership, research, and service.

The university has been named HBCU of the year by HBCU Digest. It fosters academic excellence and provides a strong liberal arts foundation and STEM-Ag curriculum leading to professional careers and advanced studies globally, according to the release.
