Survey seeks input on Enviroweather website redesign

Michigan State University (MSU) is working on modernizing its Enviroweather website. This is a major undertaking and will involve changes in the programming structure as well as the website appearance, according to the university. While the content and the data will not change, the way the website functions and the way information is displayed will change. MSU’s aim is to make Enviroweather even better and easier to use, the university said in press release. The new website will be “mobile-ready” with displays that are easier to see and navigate on a smart phone or tablet.

MSU has prepared separate, short user surveys for each commodity and one for “general weather tools” (tools not specific to a particular crop). The university os asking those who use Enviroweather to please take the relevant surveys.

The following surveys are available:

• General Weather Tools Survey (not crop specific; everyone can take this survey)
• Tree Fruit Tools Survey
• Small Fruit Tools Survey
• Vegetable Tools Survey
• Field Crop Tools Survey
• Tree Tools Survey (e.g., Christmas trees)
• Landscape and Nursery Tools Survey

MSU anticipates keeping surveys open through mid-March. The university will use feedback to make decisions and produce prototypes of the new site. MSU will be soliciting feedback and advice on these prototypes.
