Sustainable Ag Expo to address ag labor shortage

In its 12th year, the Sustainable Ag Expo, a multi-day educational conference and tradeshow, will address a number of emerging topics surrounding sustainable farming on Nov. 13-15 in San Luis Obispo, California.

Farm labor scarcity, an issued addressed at the 2016 conference, will be a hot topic at this year’s event. Leading a discussion directed towards this subject will be Philip Martin, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus, Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Davis. Martin, alongside farmers who face these challenges, will dive into demographic trends, policy implications, and grower approaches to operating with less labor within this session.

From farm labor to irrigation management, over 40 academics, experts, extentionists and growers from around the nation will provide insight, practical solutions, and present current research. The event offers significant continuing education for PCA’s and CCA’s.

“The ability to bring all of these great minds to one place to discuss tough topics for farmers is what the Sustainable Ag Expo is all about,” said Kris Beal, executive director of the Vineyard Team. “We must continue the conversations of social responsibility and sustainability in order to learn, research, and develop practical business approaches for all farmers as it is necessary for our future.”

Bringing together researchers, academics, policy experts, and farmers from around the United States, the Sustainable Ag Expo has become the premier agricultural conference to address the environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainable farming. The event provides farmers, ag professionals, and pest control advisors an opportunity to learn about and discuss the latest in farming research, resource issues, practical approaches, and business trends all related to sustainable agriculture.

Registration is now open for the three-day Sustainable Ag Expo taking place at the Madonna Inn Expo Center in San Luis Obispo, California on November 13 to 15. To secure a seat and for more information, visit www.sustainableagexpo.org or call 805-466-2288.
