U.S. apple holdings up from last year

The U.S. Apple Association has released its U.S. apple holdings report for March 1, 2017. According to the report, fresh apple holdings totaled 69.7 million bushels, 12 percent more than the inventories reported for March 1, 2016, and 8 percent more than the five-year average.

Processing holdings totaled 29.8 million bushels on March 1, 13 percent more than last year and 16 percent more than the five-year average.

The total number of apples in storage was 99.5 million bushels, 13 percent more than last year and 10 percent above the five-year average.
