US apple holdings up 17% from same period a year ago

The U.S. Apple Association has released the November 2019 edition of Market NewsThis is the first report on the 2019 apple crop.

According to the survey, reported by Mark Seetin, director, regulatory and industry affairs for USApple, this year’s fresh apple holdings on Nov. 1, 2019, totaled 132.1million bushels, 15% greater than the inventories reported for Nov. 1 of last year. 

Processing holdings totaled 47.1 million bushels, 23% greater than last year on Nov. 1. 

The total number of apples in storage on Nov. 1, 2019, was 179.2 million bushels, 17% greater than last November’s total of 153.4 million bushels and 5% above the five-year average for that date.
