USDA gives $3.4M for another round of produce box contracts

The USDA released the contract recipients for another round of Emergency Food Assistance Program produce box program Aug. 16.

A total of $3,419,049 will pay for 436,229 boxes to be delivered from October 1 to December 31, 2021. The price range of the boxes goes from $5.83 to $36.25, with an average of $7.80.

USDA issued the solicitation for Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) contracts for the fourth quarter on July 22.

In the previous round of contracts, USDA funded 1,288,353 boxes totaling $9,708,057. It previously said it had a $20 million budget for the program.
