Sep 8, 2022AgBiome collaboration seeks way to increase microbial production
AgBiome Inc., a leader in global microbial innovation, is collaborating with W. L. Gore & Associates to discover and improve methods for growing commercially important microbes.
This collaboration will bring together experts from diverse disciplines to examine new options for the sustainable production of microbial products.
As the new biology revolution continues to accelerate, numerous industries are turning to microbial sources for new active ingredients and materials. As a result, the demand for scalable production of microbial products will only continue to grow.
“Current technology for growing microbes at large scale is rather limited in many ways,” Linda Elkins, innovation leader at Gore’s Innovation Center, said in the release. “Within Gore’s innovation center of expertise, we are committed to developing and seeking new and impactful applications of Gore technology. This interdisciplinary project is a great opportunity to challenge assumptions and really interrogate the boundary between biology and manufacturing.”
Gore, Newark, Delaware, is a global materials science company dedicated to transforming industries and improving lives. Since 1958, Gore has solved complex technical challenges in demanding environments — from outer space to the world’s highest peaks to the inner workings of the human body, according to the company.
