Details released regarding acquisition of Monte Package Co.
According to a report on “Moody on the Market,”:
The acquisition “is in sharper focus now, thanks to information from the president of the company, Tony Monte. He tells us that Monte Package elected to align with Bunzl Ag Group, a division of Bunzl plc headquartered in London, England.
“In 1925, what started out as an idea with a purpose – to provide local growers in the Riverside/Coloma, Michigan area with service and quality in the fruit and vegetable packaging industry – has now evolved immensely. Because of hard work, loyal employees, consistent quality, and unparalleled service, Monte Package Co. has become the largest distributor of fruit and vegetable packaging in all of North America.
The agricultural packaging industry is constantly changing, so in order to best serve the dynamic industry, and their valued employees, Monte Package Co. has chosen to align themselves with Bunzl Ag Group. Bunzl offers 179 distribution centers strategically placed throughout North America which will allow Monte Package Co. to service all customers, near and far, more quickly and effectively.
Despite the acquisition, Monte Package Co. will remain a family-run business with its national headquarters in Riverside, Michigan. Tony Monte will continue as president, his brother, John Monte, as head of the Boynton Beach, Florida operations, Tony’s son, Sam Monte, will remain director of operations, and Tony’s father, Salvatore (Sam) Monte, will continue to be council for all aspects of the renowned family business. Additionally, St. Joseph resident Bob Roberts will continue to serve as chief financial officer and head of human resources and all Monte Package full time employees have been retained in the acquisition process. No financial details of this transaction have been released.
