Farm Bureau lauds Mexico tariff delay

Farm Bureau members are encouraged by the Mexico tariff delay.

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has commented on President Trump’s decision to delay imposition of tariffs on Mexican products.

On Feb. 4, AFBF president Zippy Duvall commented on the 30-day tariff extension agreement reached between the U.S. and Mexico.

“Farm Bureau is encouraged that the United States and Mexico have agreed to delay the use of tariffs for the next month. Tariffs and tariff retaliation often hit farmers and ranchers hard, which make it more difficult for them pay their bills and grow the food America’s families rely on,” Duvall said in the news release.

“We understand there is a similar conversation taking place with Canada to avoid costly trade disruptions, and we appreciate the Administration making every effort to resolve these disputes, keep international markets accessible and ensure a stable food supply here at home.”

Touting itself as a voice of agriculture, the Washington, D.C.-based AFBF is a leading grassroots membership organization advocating for farmers, ranchers and rural communities. The organization represents 6 million member families in 2,800 county Farm Bureaus and 50 states plus Puerto Rico.
