May 29, 2023Florida Woman of the Year in Agriculture Award nominations sought
The nomination process is open for the Florida’s Woman of the Year in Agriculture Award.
The yearly award recognizes the achievements of women who have made outstanding contributions to Florida agriculture, according to a news release announced by Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson. Nominations for the award must be submitted by Aug. 1.
“The Woman of the Year in Agriculture Award is a celebration of the exceptional women who have contributed to the continued growth and success of Florida’s agriculture industry,” Simpson said in the release. “I encourage everyone to nominate deserving individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to agriculture – their dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment deserve recognition.”
Previous award recipients originated from all parts of the agriculture industry, including vegetables, horticulture, citrus, tropical fruits, sugar cane, dairy, agricultural journalism, and agricultural education and outreach, according to the release.
To be considered for the award, nominees must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 25 years old
- Be actively involved in the agriculture industry and have resided in the state of
- Florida for the past 10 consecutive years
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in the agriculture industry
- Have demonstrated involvement in the community through professional and/or civic contributions
- Have made unique or outstanding contributions to the agriculture industry
Nomination forms for the Woman of the Year in Agriculture Award can be obtained and submitted online by visiting FDACS.gov.
