Nov 15, 2023Inteligistics receives patent for temperature-predicting system
Supply chain software company Inteligistics has been granted a patent for a process to help predict temperatures and quality of perishable products.
Pittsburgh-based Inteligistics was granted Patent No. 11,810,041 by U.S. and Trademark Office for its “system, method, and computer program product for predicting perishable product temperatures and quality,” according to a news release. The process combines environmental and product data with real-time temperature probe data in cooling, cold storage, transport and other supply chain stages.
The system can be used independently or with Inteligistics’ InteliCool product, according to the release.
“Quick cooling and maintenance of the cold chain are the most important factors in determining quality and shelf life,” Lawrence Mallia, vice president, Digital Transformation, at Inteligistics, said in the release. “Our system combines environmental and product data with real-time temperature probe data to generate a machine-learning model that is predictive of product temperature and quality throughout the supply chain.”
The system helps optimize cooling cycles in tunnels, tubes, mac coolers and other cooling assets, according to the release. This helps extend shelf life, increase throughput, generate savings in labor and energy use, improve sustainability and reduce food waste.
“This patent award is confirmation of the uniqueness and utility of our digital cold chain management system,” Rao Mandava, Inteligistics CEO and chair, said in the release. “This is especially important as companies face increasing challenges maintaining growth and margins, along with labor shortages. With minimal or no investment or disruption to existing processes, we are able to demonstrate significant improvements and consistency in their perishable operations.”
