Longtime fruit grower Daniel Boyer of Pennsylvania dies

Longtime Pennsylvania fruit grower Daniel Boyer died on Sept. 4. He was 68.

Boyer was the owner of Ridgetop Orchards in Fishertown, Pennsylvania, which he ran with his wife of 46 years, Lois, and their sons Seth and Mark. Ridgetop Orchards is a producer of cherries, peaches and apples.

Boyer served as president of the Pennsylvania State Horticulture Association and was a former member of the Penn State University Agricultural Advisory Committee. He also served on the Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Board, USApple Association board of directors and the International Fruit Tree Association board of directors. He was a graduate of Penn State University.

A funeral was scheduled for Sept. 8 in Bedford. See the full obituary here.
