Agriculture enthusiasts worried about restrictive federal child labor changes will have another chance to voice their concerns.
The federal Department of Labor announced it would be re-proposing the parental exception portion of its new ag child labor rule, which sets guidelines for minors working in ag-related industries.
“The decision … is in part a response to requests from the public and members of Congress that the agency allow an opportunity for more input on this aspect of the rule,” a DOL statement said.
The DOL first revealed its proposed child labor rule changes last September and was flooded with roughly 10,000 letters and comments from the public and ag industry leaders. The Chippewa Herald
