Researchers with the University of California-Santa Barbara are launching a new grower survey to better understand the use of managed and wild bees in specialty crop production.

UC-Santa Barbara says the purpose of the survey is to understand how blueberry growers decide on managing habitat for wild pollination and using managed pollination to pollinate blueberries, an insect-pollination dependent crop.

The research project is being conducted jointly by the University of Maryland (UMD), University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and University of North Texas (UNT), and is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute on Food and Agriculture (USDA NIFA).
