Some trees are starting to bud; daffodil and crocus shoots are poking through dry leaves. And it’s still February.
It’s crunch time for fruit growers and gardeners.
Jerry Holub, manager at the Earl May Nursery and Garden Center, 5910 Douglas Ave., in Des Moines, said, “The whole thing now is night temperatures. We don’t want to see temperatures much below 22 degrees now. Single digit temperatures after March 1 could be disastrous.” The Indianapolis Star
