Gowan’s METTLE fungicide receives label expansion

Gowan USA has received federally-approved label expansion for METTLE 125ME fungicide to include the crop groups fruiting vegetables and cucurbits. These two new crop groups, combined with grapes and strawberries already on the label, will provide METTLE users with more utility for controlling powdery mildew, Alternaria, Cercospora, Septoria, Anthracnose, and other problematic diseases, according to the company.

METTLE 125ME fungicide is based on the active ingredient tetraconazole, which belongs to the triazole class of chemistry and designated as a FRAC Group 3 site of action. Different from other triazole fungicides, METTLE is highly systemic and readily moves into new growth emerging after application, according to Gowan. The highly systemic movement of METTLE is possible due to its unique chemical structure which creates balanced liposolubility for easy movement into treated plants, and balanced hydrosolubility for translocation throughout treated plants for disease protection of new growth, the company claims.
