Southwest Michigan Horticultural Days set for Feb. 3-4

The Michigan Grape Society and Michigan State University Extension, in partnership with Lake Michigan College, will host the annual Southwest Michigan Horticultural Days conference Feb. 3-4 at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. both days and all educational sessions begin at 9 a.m.

The general session on Feb. 3 will include updates on:

  • Food Safety Modernization Act
  • Labor issues, update on the
  • Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program
  • Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program and Tree Assistance Program

There will be educational sessions on tree fruit during both days; vegetable production and wine grapes on Feb. 3 and blueberries and all grapes on Feb. 4. The event also features a trade show and raffle. Restricted use pesticide recertification credits have been requested for all educational sessions.

Registration is $60 at the door and includes lunch for both days. Early registration is $45 and must be postmarked by Jan. 25. Mail registration to: Michigan Grape Society, P.O. Box 151, Baroda, MI 49101, Attention: Allen Zelmer.
