Best farm employers sought by ag labor group

Wanting to recognize agricultural employers who go above and beyond their duties with their farm workers, the National Council of Agricultural Employers (NCAE) is throwing down the gauntlet to uncover the best of the best.

“As we announced at our Ag Labor Forum earlier this year, NCAE is looking to recognize members who are leaning in,” Michael Marsh, NCAE’s president and chief executive officer, said in a news release.

“People involved in U.S. agriculture are truly the best of America and we want to recognize how truly awesome they are. We will be identifying one member who is making a positive difference in their community, and we will also be recognizing a member having the best farmworker housing.”

Earlier this year, on the anniversary of the tragic and world-changing September 11 events, NCAE published an article relating how the team at Mercer Ranches in Washington had taken the tragedy of that horrific day and turned it into an opportunity to do good. You can read the article here.

“The Mercer Ranches story is one that is reflective of that amazing spirit we see so often in the agricultural community,” Marsh said in the release. “It’s about doing the right thing. Similarly, agricultural employers go the extra mile when it comes to taking care of the people they work with every day. We want to recognize a member who displays that in their investment in housing for their workers.”

Each of the two winners will receive a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Mercer Ranches Block 93 production as NCAE acknowledges members for doing the right thing.

Details on this fun recognition and how to participate can be found at ncaeonline.org.

NCAE is the national trade association focusing on agricultural labor issues from the employer’s viewpoint.
