The Cherry Industry Administrative Board (CIAB) is seeking nominees for a Public Alternate position on its board, according to a release from the company. This position is for a three-year term beginning June 1, 2026, and nominations will be accepted through Jan. 29, 2026.
A CIAB Public Alternate is “prohibited from having any financial interest in the cherry industry,” must demonstrate knowledge of the tart cherry industry and is expected to attend board meetings in-person or via Zoom. Board meeting expenses are reimbursable, and the Public Alternate will receive compensation of $250 per board meeting.
Individuals interested in serving as CIAB’s Public Alternate should submit a resume to Heather Weber, CIAB vp of operations, via email at hweber@cherryboard.org. Resumes must be submitted no by Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026.
The CIAB is also conducting elections for grower alternate seats in the following districts:
- Northern Michigan – District 1
- Central Michigan – District 2
- Southern Michigan – District 3
- Utah – District 7
- Washington – District 8
- Wisconsin – District 9
To qualify for the grower alternate seats, a nominee must fit the official definition of a cherry grower, according to CIAB regulations: “A grower is a tart cherry producer who produces cherries to be marketed in canned, frozen or other processed form and who has a proprietary interest therein: Provided that, the term ‘grower’ shall not include a person who produces cherries to be marketed exclusively for the fresh market in an unpitted condition.”
CIAB says nomination forms were emailed to growers on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026. Nominations are due at 5 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
The CIAB is also conducting elections for at-large alternate seats in:
