Fresh apple holdings up 12 percent over previous year

The U.S. Apple Association has released its February, 2018, edition of Market News. 

This is the fourth report on the 2017 apple crop. According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on Feb. 1, totaled 95.6 million bushels, 12 percent more than the inventories reported for Feb.1 of last year.

Processing holdings totaled  38.6 million bushels, 10 percent more than last year on February 1.  he total number of apples in storage on Feb. 1, was 134.1 million bushels, 11 percent more than last February’s total of 120.7 million bushels and 16 percent above the five-year average for that date.
