Fresh apple Inventories at 46.6 million bushels, up 20 percent

The U.S. Apple Association has released its May, 2018 edition of Market News. According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on May 1, 2018, totaled 46.6million bushels, 20 percent more than the inventories reported for May 1 of last year. 

Processing holdings totaled  19.9 million bushels, 21 percent more than last year on May 1.  The total number of apples in storage on May 1, 2018, was 66.4 million bushels, 21 percent more than last May’s total of 55.1million bushels and 25 percent above the 5 year average for that date.
