Fruit Crop Guesstimate to be held June 24

The 60th Annual Fruit Crop Guesstimate, sponsored by the Michigan Frozen Food Packers Association (MFFPA), will be held at 2:30 p.m. June 24 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Guesstimate provides a forum for processors, growers, wholesalers and retailers to review expectations for the tart cherry, sweet cherry, apple, peach, grape and blueberry crops in Michigan and across the nation.

A reception will follow the Guesstimate, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The registration fee is $75, which includes meeting materials and the reception.

For more information and registration forms, call Jim Armstrong at 269-849-0500, or send him an email.

MFFPA will present three scholarships at the meeting. Applications must be received no later than June 8, and each recipient must be able to attend the scholarship presentation on June 24.

While preference is given to students who have a relationship with an MFFPA member, priority will be given to those with food science majors who are in the upper 50 percent of their class, and who reside in Michigan.

For more information about applying for a scholarship, call Jennifer Spears McPike at 269-434-6112, or send her an email.
