Intuity fungicide registered for grape botrytis, powdery mildew

Valent U.S.A.’s Intuity fungicide has been registered in the U.S. and California for botrytis control and powdery mildew suppression in wine grapes. A new tool for PCAs, crop advisors and growers to use throughout the season, Intuity keeps grapes clean of botrytis, resulting in optimal crop quality and yield potential.

Intuity is a strobilurin (Qol) fungicide, developed for the U.S. market by Valent, with a unique disease spectrum. Unlike other strobilurin chemistries, Intuity delivers strong preventive activity against botrytis.

“With its unique spectrum of control, Intuity was designed for crop advisors and growers who strive to be proactive in order to deliver the highest quality fruit,” said Mike Martin, Crop Marketing Manager, Grapes at Valent. “Intuity has an excellent fit in full-season programs, demonstrating strong performance compared to grower standards in university trials.”

Intuity delivers residual protection of botrytis bunch rot in grapes and also botrytis gray mold in strawberries. Intuity strengthens powdery mildew programs by providing consistent suppression on bunches and leaves.

Intuity, like other strobilurin fungicides, works by interfering with energy production in fungal cells. This reduces fungal growth and sporulation. Because Intuity has both translaminar and locally systemic activity, it penetrates the leaf tissue for optimal disease management.

Intuity is a member of FRAC group 11 and is best used preventively in a rotation program with non-FRAC 11 fungicides. Intuity is also registered in Florida, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and other states. New York registration is pending, as are additional labeled crops.

Intuity joins a growing fungicide product line from Valent. For more information on Intuity or the company’s full portfolio of solutions for grapes and strawberries, visit valent.com/intuity or contact your local Valent sales representative.
