Market 52 files chapter 11

Visalia, Calif.-based Market 52 Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Established in 2005, the wholesale produce packing, shipping and marketing company filed for bankruptcy protection in California Eastern Bankruptcy Court Jan. 27.

Filings show that its largest unsecured creditor is National Bank of California, at $3.3 million. Growers and related businesses in the U.S., Canada and Mexico are also among those on the creditors roster, with Eisele Farms of Gresham, Ore., topping that roster at $443,884.

A creditors meeting is set for March 1.
