Michigan Apple Board appointees attend first meeting

Kimberly A. Kropf and Caleb J. Coulter attended their first Michigan Apple Committee meeting on June 4.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer had earlier appointed them to the Michigan Apple Committee Board of Directors back in April.

“Kimberly and Caleb’s experiences and knowledge are great assets to our board,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “I know they will succeed in representing their districts.”

Kropf, a Lowell resident, succeeds Tony Blattner to represent District 3 growers for a term expiring April 1, 2022. Kropf currently works at Hart Farm near Greenville.

Coulter, a New Era resident, succeeds Arthur Lister to represent District 4 growers for a term expiring April 1, 2022. He is the owner and operator of New Era’s American Apple and the vice-chairman of the Oceana County Conservation District.

“Tony Blatter has been a wonderful chair to work with on our board. His leadership has guided the organization well. I appreciate the dedication of both Tony and Art, as their contributions to the board have been significant and they have helped to lead MAC in a positive direction,” said Smith.

The Michigan Apple Committee is made up of seven Michigan Apple growers. The Governor of Michigan appoints growers to represent five different areas of the state. Terms are three years, and a board member can serve three terms.

The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to marketing, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption in Michigan and around the world. For more information, visit www.MichiganApples.com.
