Michigan grower sues city for excluding him from farmers’ market

A Charlotte, Michigan farmer is suing the city of East Lansing for excluding him from the city’s farmers’ market because of his views on marriage.

The federal lawsuit was filed May 31 by lawyers with Alliance Defending Freedom, a group that advocates for religious freedom.

The farmer filing the suit is Steve Tennes of Country Mill farms, past president of the Michigan State Horticultural Society.
