Organic cider orchard field day offered for growers

Join OSU Extension and the Oregon Organic Coalition on May 7 for an immersive orchard tour covering pest management, soil health and organic production practices.

Oregon State University Organic Extension Specialists and the Oregon Organic Coalition are hosting an immersive, hands-on experience in an organically managed cider apple orchard.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore practical, real-world approaches to pest and disease management, orchard nutrition and sustainable growing practices. The event will highlight how organic methods can support high-quality fruit production, improve soil health and foster responsible stewardship. Attendees will hear directly from experienced growers and gain insights you can apply to your own operation with confidence.

When: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on May 7, 2026.

Coffee and check-in will begin at 9:00 am, guided tours and demonstrations will take place at 9:45 am, lunch and cider tasting will be at 12:30 am, with time for Q&A until 2 pm.

Registration Details: The event is free and open to the public, but you must register by May 1st if you would like to enjoy a complimentary lunch. It is advised you complete a registration form for each person attending.

This event is supported by the Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP), a USDA-funded initiative that provides mentorship, technical assistance, and educational opportunities to help farmers transition to and succeed in organic production. Through workshops, field days and one-on-one support, TOPP strengthens organic farming communities and equips producers with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive.
