Northern California grape, olive field day scheduled

Registration has opened for this year’s Olive & Grape field day.

The event, sponsored by the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) in Davis, California, is scheduled for July 30 in Hopland, California.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Weed management in olive and grape: Issues and control strategies
  • Understanding water movement in orchards and vineyards
  • Raptor and rodent management in perennials 
  • Conservation biocontrol in the vineyard
  • Common diseases and abiotic disorders affecting olive trees
  • Pruning, variety research 
  • Management of olive fruit fly
  • Soil nutrition management in olives
  • Irrigation management

The event is to be at the Terra Savia  Organic Winery & Olive Mill and Olivino Olive Mill and Winery at 14200 Mountain House Road in Hopland.

The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and includes indoor and outdoor talks.

For continuing education, the event offers 2.5 California Department of Pesticide Regulation CE units and 2.5 CCA units..

Registration is $50 and is available at ucanr.edu.
