The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) has several upcoming events designed to provide critical information for agricultural producers and land managers. Registration is now open for these workshops and field days, each focused on a unique topic relevant to the industry.
Living with Wildlife Workshop | Nov. 6
This workshop will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Scotts Valley Women’s Club in Lakeport, California. Topics include managing vertebrate pests like gophers and ground squirrels, livestock protection tools and innovative feral pig trapping strategies. The event, co-sponsored by the Lake County Farm Bureau, will feature experts from UCCE and Pig Brig Traps Business.
Registration is free but limited to 40 participants. Refreshments will be provided. Attendees can earn up to three hours of Continuing Education credits in the “Other” category, pending approval.
Pear Branch Canker and Dieback Field Day | Oct. 29
UCCE is hosting a field day in Hopland, California, focused on managing branch dieback disease fungi in pear orchards. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will include presentations from UC Davis experts. Continuing , but registration is required.
2024 UCCE Pear Grower and PCA Virtual Meeting | Nov. 12
This virtual event, scheduled for 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., will provide an update on a new insect pest, an unknown flatheaded borer causing damage to pear fruit in Lake County. The meeting will feature UCCE experts and is co-sponsored by the California Pear Advisory Board. Registration is now open and available online.
