USApple: Jan. 1 holdings up 12 percent at 115.8 million bushels

U.S. Apple Association has released its third report on the 2017 apple crop. According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on Jan. 1, 2018, totaled 115.8 million bushels, 12 percent more than the inventories reported for January 1 of last year. 

Processing holdings totaled  46.8 million bushels, 15 percent more than last year on Jan. 1

The total number of apples in storage on Jan. 1, 2018, was 162.6 million bushels, 13 percent more than last January’s total of 144.0 million bushels and 19 percent above the five-year average for that date.
