USDA schedules Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee meeting

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has scheduled the next meeting of the Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee.

The committee, which studies issues facing the fruit and vegetable industry, is scheduled to meet in-person April 19-20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time. The meeting is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.

The committee is scheduled to hear public comments on April 19. Persons or organizations wishing to make oral comments must pre-register by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on April 3, using the registration form. Attendees can register for only one speaking slot.

USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service is organizing the meeting.

Written comments related to the fruit and vegetable industry can be submitted at regulations.gov.

In 2001, the USDA established the committee to examine the full spectrum of issues facing the fruit and vegetable industry and create a forum to provide suggestions and ideas to the department on ways to improve programs to meet the changing needs of the produce industry. Committee members represent a broad cross-section of the industry.
