In a recent email, Shelly Hartmann, chair of the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC), shared the organization’s accomplishments despite the challenges faced in 2023. Hartmann emphasized the council’s efforts in promoting the blueberry industry, maintaining market enthusiasm, and providing crucial industry updates.

“Despite 2023’s challenges, the USHBC succeeded in conveying the blueberry industry’s critical messages, provided timely information and news about the market, and sustained consumer enthusiasm for our amazing blues,” said Hartmann in the email.
The report detailed various initiatives undertaken by the USHBC, including consumer promotions, media coverage, health research partnerships and retail marketing efforts. Notably, the blueberry industry created and sustained over 44,535 full-time equivalent jobs and generated $4.7 billion in total economic impact, according to the report.
