Valent U.S.A. appoints Dave Poling as VP of marketing

Valent U.S.A. LLC has appointed Dave Poling as vice president of marketing.

Poling succeeds Geoff Quick, who has transitioned to a new role as the global lead of business development for Sumitomo Chemical’s AgroSolutions Division International (ASDI).

In his new role, Poling will be responsible for leading and developing the marketing organization and directing the portfolio strategies for Valent’s products and services in the United States and Canada. He will also support global strategies and key growth initiatives of Valent’s parent company, Sumitomo Chemical.

“Dave is a highly capable and effective leader who brings significant marketing experience to Valent,” said Matt Plitt, president and chief executive officer. “From strengthening customer-focused solutions to driving growth in our core markets, Dave will lead a talented marketing team to advance sustainable agriculture and position Valent for continued success.”

Poling joins Valent from BASF, where he recently served as manager of regional marketing at BASF’s Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Previous positions at BASF include global segment team lead responsible for Europe, Asia, North and South America; head of global marketing based in Limburgerhof, Germany; and marketing manager for a blockbuster insecticide and the successful integration of Whitmire Micro-Gen Research Labs where he worked for nearly 10 years prior to BASF’s acquisition of the company.

Poling earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of California, Davis.
